About Scription

Dr Jingpeng Li, co-founder and CTO of Scription, is a world-leading researcher with a long-standing interest in crew scheduling and duty optimisation. After obtaining his PhD on “Fuzzy Evolutionary Approaches for Bus and Rail Driver Scheduling” at the Transportation Scheduling Group, University of Leeds, in 2002, Dr Li continues his research in this area as a faculty member (from Assistant Professor in University of Nottingham to Reader in University of Stirling). He has published over 80 high impact research articles, most of which are related to the studies on timetabling, scheduling and rostering. Dr Li is responsible for the sophisticated algorithms within our duty optimiser.

Jack Smith, co-founder and CEO of Scription, has a decade of experience in the public transport industry; having worked for multi-award-winning bus operators, most recently as a Service Delivery Manager. Jack spent several years as a Scheduler and Analyst; specialising in timetable scheduling, vehicle scheduling, duty planning and rostering, as well as patronage analysis. His experience of being part of project teams has given him an important understanding of how honest communication and a shared understanding of the objectives are key to successful collaboration. Jack’s knowledge of bus operations and innovative approach have led to the creation of our duty optimiser.
